Our Founder, Michelle Doherty - Celebrating a Legacy
Michelle Doherty suffered from chronic acne from her teens to her 20s. She tried everything: aggressive treatments, abrasive Exfoliants and harsh medications. Nothing worked.
Michelle needed a radical change. And so did her skin. That reboot came in the form of glycolic acid, a powerful ingredient that helped her skin find balance, clarity and resilience.
Many questioned Michelle's use of this unknown Acid, warning that it was "too harsh, too aggressive, too irritating." But the skeptics did not dissuade her. Michelle combined this little-known acid with a non-foaming, no-rinse cleanser-the Balancing Cleanser we know and love today-that rebalanced her skin's pH and completely revitalized her complexion. She had found the best solution for her skin. From that moment on, Michelle was committed to transformative skin care.
The spectacular results that glycolic acid gave Michelle were life-changing. Not only in her skin, but also in her confidence and self-esteem. Amazed by her own experience, she began working on a range of products incorporating this innovative ingredient. She soon developed an overnight rejuvenating treatment that did not rely solely on glycolic acid for its efficacy, but combined the potent 5% acid concentration with a unique low pH of 2.8-3.0 to make skin feel firmer and more resilient, as if it had undergone a "serious workout." Thus Liquid Gold was born.
From there, Michelle set out to share her passion and expertise, first with Australian and New Zealand women, and then with the world.

Our conscious formulas
We are passionate about supporting local producers and suppliers, so our priority is to formulate our products with local ingredients whenever possible. While many of Alpha-H's ingredients come from RSPO-certified sustainable suppliers, we are working to formulate exclusively with sustainable sources so that we can continue to minimize our impact on the environment, ecosystems and communities while championing sustainable sources of indigenous ingredients.

Our packaging
Approximately 30% to 35% of our tubes and bottles are made from recycled materials. Thanks to new technologies, more than one third of post-consumer recycled resin (PCR resin) can be used in packaging without compromising product integrity. In addition, Alpha-H's tubes, bottles and cartons are 100% recyclable.
We choose post-consumer recycled (PCR) materials whenever possible and we make sure that almost everything we ship is recyclable. However, packaging is a complex issue and we are the first to admit that there is no perfect solution. There are pros and cons to both glass (heavy for shipping, great for recycling) and plastic (light for shipping, can be recycled), so we use a mix of both, and are always working to innovate and improve, offering our customers and the planet the most sustainable versions of ourselves.
